In order for the Santee School District to maintain accountability and program integrity we will ensure that meals are distributed only to parents or guardians of eligible children, and that duplicate meals are not distributed to any child, by communicating via email and all call messaging the following;

  • Parents/ guardians may take-home meals for children who are not able to leave their homes. Meals are ONLY for students enrolled in the Santee School District
  • Meals cannot be distributed to adults for their consumption.
  • Parents may go to only ONE location, going to multiple locations on the same day is NOT ALLOWED

Good nutrition and learning go hand in hand.

The Santee School District Child Nutrition Department is made up of a team of food and nutrition professionals that are dedicated to students' health, well being and their ability to learn. We support learning by promoting healthy habits for lifelong nutrition and fitness practices.

Meals, foods and beverages sold or served at schools meet state and federal requirements which are based on the USDA Dietary Guidelines. We provide students with access to a variety of affordable and appealing foods that meet the health and nutrition needs of students.

The Child Nutrition program provides portioned, balanced, healthy, and delicious meals to students in the Santee School District.

We offer a large variety of options in an attempt to meet the needs of all our students. All of our bread items are made with whole grains. At lunch students can choose from a minimum of five different entrees each day along with sides from the self-serve salad bar to compliment the entrees. We offer a a variety of fruits and vegetables including dark greens, red/oranges, legumes and a variety of fresh and canned fruits. On a regular basis we offer farm to school produce picked just a day or two before it reaches the salad bar.
All students are offered five food groups and are required to take at least three.
One of the three groups must be at least a 1/2 cup of fruit and/or vegetable.
It is our pleasure to serve your students each day.
