Welcome to Child Nutrition Services!

Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year!

Child Nutrition Services is pleased to offer FREE healthy

meals to ALL students

enrolled in the Santee School District!

Meal applications are not required for the 2021-22 school

               year and families are encouraged

to take advantage of our free breakfast and lunch program.

We Need Your Help!

The District and our schools receive funding each year that is partially based on counts of students who qualify for free/reduced-priced meals. You can help our school and District to obtain additional funding by filling out the Annual Family Information Form

One form is needed for each child enrolled in the district. Completion of this form can also help you to obtain lower-cost services from certain other service providers, such as, for example, Cox Cable. Please take a few minutes to click on the link and complete the Annual Family Information Form for each of your children attending District schools.

Good nutrition and learning go hand in hand.

The Santee School District Child Nutrition Department is made up of a team of food and nutrition professionals that are dedicated to students' health, well being and their ability to learn. We support learning by promoting healthy habits for lifelong nutrition and fitness practices.

Meals, foods and beverages sold or served at schools meet state and federal requirements which are based on the USDA Dietary Guidelines. We provide students with access to a variety of affordable and appealing foods that meet the health and nutrition needs of students.

The Child Nutrition program provides portioned, balanced, healthy, and delicious meals to students in the Santee School District.

We offer a large variety of options in an attempt to meet the needs of all our students. All of our bread items are made with whole grains. At lunch students can choose from a minimum of five different entrees each day along with sides from the self-serve salad bar to compliment the entrees. We offer a a variety of fruits and vegetables including dark greens, red/oranges, legumes and a variety of fresh and canned fruits. On a regular basis we offer farm to school produce picked just a day or two before it reaches the salad bar.
All students are offered five food groups and are required to take at least three.
One of the three groups must be at least a 1/2 cup of fruit and/or vegetable.
It is our pleasure to serve your students each day.
If you have any questions or would like more information please feel free to contact me at 619-258-2290.
