  • Colonial School District Nutrition Services is proud to announce a silver level award for the third annual Turnip the Beet Award.  The award recognizes outstanding summer meal programs where sponsors serve high quality meals that are appetizing, appealing and wholesome.  Award winners are those that go above and beyond to ensure their meals are both nutritious and appetizing; serve a variety of vegetables and fruits; serve whole grains; and serve low fat dairy products that are culturally-appropriate during the week.  Nutrition education and activities are also provided along with meals throughout the week.

  • The Healthier US School Challenge is a voluntary certification recognizing schools that have created healthier school environments through promotion of nutrition and physical activity.  Colonial School District went for the gold and became the first district in the state of Delaware to win the gold award.
We would like to celebrate all those involved in making this happen and celebrate the achievement of being an exemplary district that exceed meal pattern requirements by providing nutrition education, physical education and activity as well as abiding by the district’s wellness policy and all HUSSC criteria.
