Sharing the Message of Wellness

One of our goals is to share the message of nutrition and wellness via our department's Web site that emphasizes the importance of nutrition AND fitness. Our site provides information on the nutrition and fitness for teachers, parents, and students, as well as, a variety of learning tools.

Key Areas of our Wellness Policy

Balance is essential for any Wellness Policy. Key areas include:

  • Nutrition Education
  • Physical activity
  • Other school-based activities that are designed to promote student wellness.

Key Message from the Wellness Policy

There are times throughout the school year where groups and teachers would like to reward their students with food items.  The timing of these events is typically immediately after lunch resulting in students receiving two lunches or consuming extra foods of minimal value after their school lunch.

Adhering to the District Wellness Policy, if you or a partnering organization would like to provide a reward to students the district encourages non-food items as the reward.  Snack options can be ordered through the cafeteria from the cafeteria manager off an approved Smart Snack List.  With an increasing number of student with food allergies, diabetes and other medical conditions it is important food distributed to students be provided through the Nutrition Services Department to monitor what ingredients are in the food we are allowing our students to consume.
