Good nutrition and learning go hand in hand.

The Nutrition Services department is made up of a team of food and nutrition professionals that are dedicated to students' health, well being and their ability to learn. We support learning by promoting healthy habits for lifelong nutrition and fitness practices.

Meals, foods and beverages sold or served at schools meet state and federal requirements which are based on the USDA Dietary Guidelines. We provide students with access to a variety of affordable and appealing foods that meet the health and nutrition needs of students.

Mission Statement:

The Dover Sherborn Public Schools Food and Nutrition Services is dedicated to advancing children’s health and physical well-being by providing healthy, well balanced meals, promoting education and encouraging physical fitness attributed to better development of body, intellectual development and positive life decisions to improve quality of life.

Dear Dover Sherborn Public School families,

This year, Dover Sherborn Public Schools cafeterias are meeting tough new federal nutrition standards for school meals, ensuring that meals are healthy and well-balanced and provide students all the nutrition they need to succeed at school. Now is a great time to encourage your kids to choose school lunch.

School meals offer students milk, fruits and vegetables, proteins and grains. Meals must meet strict limits on saturated fat, sodium and portion size. Since School Year 2012-2013, school lunches have been meeting additional meal standards requiring:

  • Larger servings of vegetables and fruits (students must take at least one serving of produce)
  • A wider variety of vegetables, including dark green and red/orange vegetables and legumes
  • Fat-free or 1% milk (flavored milk must be fat-free)
  • Whole grains
  • Lower sodium
  • Age-appropriate calorie limits

We’re always working to offer Dover Sherborn students healthier and tastier choices. We use locally grown produce whenever possible and participate in the "Harvest of the Month” program each year. This year we will feature locally grown corn, green beans, carrots, butternut squash, tomatoes and other fresh, local items available to us.

School meals are a great value and a huge convenience for busy families. Elementary School Lunches are $3.25, Milk $.70 and Middle and High School Lunches are $3.75, Milk $.80.

Dover Sherborn Schools use a computerized POS or “point of sale” system. Students are able to use either their pre-paid debit account or cash. You may prepay with cash, check or prepay online through “My School Bucks”.

We look forward to seeing and serving your child(ren) in the Cafeteria.

Thank you,

Food & Nutrition Services
