Watertown School Nutrition!

Preorder remote learner meals

While the return to school this fall is not what any of us envisioned, I want to assure you the Watertown School Nutrition department is working hard to create a welcoming and safe environment to provide healthy meals for all Watertown Public Schools students. We are so excited to provide our students with nourishing and nutritious meals, even while learning from home.

When our schools closed because of COVID-19, the USDA (the federal agency that oversees the nation’s school lunch and school breakfast program) allowed all schools in the US to provide meals at no cost to all students and then they extended that provision through the summer. That extension has been extended through the ENTIRE 2020-2021 SCHOOL YEAR!

All families who believe they may qualify for free or reduced meal benefits should still complete an application as they normally do at the start of this school year to make sure they recieve other important benefits such as bussing fee waivers, P-EBT funds, ect.  The application for free and reduced-price meals can be found at:

In addition, we also encourage families to apply for SNAP benefits. SNAP provides monthly cash benefits (on an EBT card) to purchase groceries for eligible families. To apply for SNAP, visit DTA Connect at or call the Project Bread FoodSource Hotline at 1-800-645-8333. Families approved for SNAP are directly eligible to receive free meals at school.

Please reach out with any questions you might have. Your children are the reason we do our jobs and we are here to make sure that they are fueled with good food!

The Watertown Public Schools Nutrition Department makes available breakfast, lunch, snacks, and milk daily to all students commencing on the first day of school. In addition, the Free and/or Reduced Price Meals Program subsidized by the Federal Government is also available to eligible students. A meal application was mailed home in the summer packet. A new application must be completed each school year for each child in the family. Families who feel that they are eligible to participate in the program should submit the completed application within three (3) days of its receipt. The food service department will notify the parent of their eligibility status. If you have a question regarding eligibility status or seek information on the program, contact:
