Watertown School Nutrition!

Dear Parent/Guardian:

Children need healthy meals to learn. Watertown Public Schools is providing free meals to all students under the USDA’s Child Nutrition Programs (Seamless Summer Option or Summer Food Service Program). Children enrolled in the district are eligible for these free meals regardless of eligibility through June 30, 2022. Even though meals are free, it is recommended that school districts still collect applications and notify households of the results.

If you are not receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits and have been approved for free school meals, you may be eligible for SNAP which provides monthly financial assistance to purchase groceries to Massachusetts residents who qualify. Find out if you are eligible for SNAP today by calling Project Bread's FoodSource Hotline at 1-800-645-8333 and a counselor can help you apply over the phone. You can also apply on your own online at DTA Connect: https://dtaconnect.eohhs.mass.gov/apply

Please reach out with any questions you might have. Your children are the reason we do our jobs and we are here to make sure that they are fueled with good food!

Best,

The Watertown Public Schools Nutrition Department makes available breakfast, lunch, snacks, and milk daily to all students commencing on the first day of school. In addition, the Free and/or Reduced Price Meals Program subsidized by the Federal Government is also available to eligible students. A meal application was mailed home in the summer packet. A new application must be completed each school year for each child in the family. Families who feel that they are eligible to participate in the program should submit the completed application within three (3) days of its receipt. The food service department will notify the parent of their eligibility status. If you have a question regarding eligibility status or seek information on the program, contact:
