Parent Meal Finder Map

Texas parents can now visit the TXSchools.gov MealFinder Map to find locations near them where local school systems are offering free school meals—both breakfast and lunch—for pick-up while school buildings are closed because of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Launched by the Texas Education Agency (TEA), in partnership with the Office of the Governor and Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA), the TXSchools.gov MealFinder Map is designed to help parents and students easily find school meals during the unprecedented disruption to schools caused by COVID-19.
Once parents go to the site, they click “Meal Pick-Up Locations” to bring up a map of locations. Parents can type their address, and the map will zoom into meal pick-up locations that are up and running near them.

Region One Food and Nutrition Services provides school districts, charter, RCCI's,  private schools as well as Child and Adult Day Care Food Programs with a comprehensive range of technical services designed to assist our contract entities to meet federal, state, and local program requirements under the direction of the United States Department of Agriculture. Staff provides technical assistance to CACFP and NSLP participants in preparation for administrative review,  trainings during the school year and offers summer workshops for  administrative and campus food service personnel.

Training is defined as the process of employing formal instructional methods and techniques through lesson plans, trainers, mentors and / or instructional devices, for the purpose and intent of developing the competencies that enrich and enhance the performance level of Food and Nutrition Professional and strengthen or enhance activities that will improve program performance of the Contract Entity (CE). Training efforts may be supported by workshops, webinars, seminars, etc.

Technical assistance is the process of exchanging information and / or transferring technical data through an informal non-training setting for the purpose and intent of developing the competencies that enrich and enhance the performance level of Food and Nutrition Professional and strengthen or enhance activities that will improve program performance of the SFA. Technical assistance efforts may be supported by on-site visits, telephone calls, faxes, emails, etc. Technical assistance is not the actual performing of CE's responsibilities but rather providing information on how the CE may properly discharge or carry out the responsibility.

We are here to help child nutrition professionals operate efficiently, effectively and within federal program  regulations. Region One ESC provides multiple channels of training, not only on program rules but sound financial practices and methods to make meals appealing and acceptable. These trainings are funded by TDA and are offered free of charge to school nutrition professionals.
