Welcome to the 2021-2022 School Year!

Dear Assabet families,

Assabet’s nutrition program continues to meet tough USDA, federal and state nutrition standards for all school meals. This ensures that meals are healthy, well-balanced and provide students all the nutrition they need to succeed at school. Now is a great time to choose school lunch!

We’re always working to offer Assabet students healthier and tastier choices. Our Nutrition Services team is dedicated to providing healthy and nutritious choices every day. School meals offer students milk, fruit and vegetables, proteins and grains, and each meal must meet strict limits on saturated fat and portion size. Continuing this school lunches meet and, in some cases, exceed the federal standard requiring:

  • Age-appropriate calorie limits
  • Larger servings of fruit and vegetables (students must take at least one serving of produce)
  • Fat-free or 1% milk (flavored milk must be fat-free)
  • More whole grains

All students are provided a unique PIN for purchases and that PIN will remain with the student until graduation from Assabet. Online access to student accounts can be found at www.MySchoolBucks.com. The website allows households to pre-pay for additional items outside of the free breakfast/lunch, such as snacks and beverages.

Per the USDA, Free Meal flexibilities have been extended for the 21-22 school year. This means every child at Assabet is entitled to ONE free breakfast and ONE free lunch each day regardless of benefit status. However, we DO encourage all households to fill out a Free/Reduced Meal Application as awarded meal benefits can also provide:

  • Discounted energy/utilities
  • Discounted SAT, ACT and AP exam fees
  • Discounted internet access for eligible households
  • Discounted college application fees
  • Increased funding to ensure students receive the support they need to receive a comprehensible, world class education

School Year 21/22 Free/Reduced Meal Applications are available and can be downloaded at www.assabet.org under Nutrition Services. We are urging households to apply online at www.MySchoolApps.com. It is important that you complete the entire application.

We look forward to welcoming your children to the cafeteria this fall. To find out more about our healthy school meals please visit us on the Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School website at: www.assabet.org. If you need further information, please contact Food Services at 508-485-9430.
