Meal Applications

Las Virgenes Unified School District participates in the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs. Meals are served every school day. Eligible students may receive meals free or at a reduced price. Application information is available below.

It is important that your student receives the benefits they are entitled to. You may not even realize your child may be eligible. Please note that this application and status are completely confidential. Applications must be resubmitted annually. This year we have made the process easier through an online link:  ONLINE APPLICATION

Only complete one application per family. The information you give will be used to determine or prove your child's eligibility for free or reduced-priced meals. This information may also be used for other state or federally funded school benefits.

Factors considered in the application process are household size and total household income. HOUSEHOLD SIZE is considered for all persons, related or unrelated: Including parents, children, grandparents who live in your home and share living expenses. The TOTAL HOUSEHOLD INCOME is the income each household member received last month before taxes - this includes wages, social security, pension, unemployment, welfare, child support, alimony, and any other cash income.

Foster Children - You do not need to complete a separate application.  List all the household members and the name of the school for each child.  Check the box for each child that is a foster child.

Helpful Information

  • The application process takes about 10 days from the time the application arrives the Child Nutrition Office.
  • All families submitting an application will receive notification in the mail.
  • USDA requires all families interested in participating in the meal program to file an application with the department of Child Nutrition at the beginning of each school year.
  • Families eligible for free or reduced price meals have 30 working days to complete a new application each school year.  If a family does not submit an application for the new school year within the first 30 working days, the student(s) will need to pay the full price for meals.
  • Families may submit an application at any time during the school year.
