Meal Applications

2020-21

Meal applications

Will be available starting July 15th

Families who were approved for meal benefits in the 2018-19 school year in District 49 have a 30 school day grace period to apply for the 2019-2020 school year.  Every family must reapply annually.

Starting July 15 you can complete your meal application either on line or a paper form.  You can locate the on line form at:https://www.payschoolscentral.com/#/user/login

If you use the on line application you will be able to receive your results immediately and print your approval letter at your leisure.

Paper applications will be available at all District locations and can be turned in at all District locations when completed.  You will be notified by mail of your child's status once the paper application has been received and processed at the Nutrition Department's central office.  The Nutrition Department has 10 business days from date the application is received at the central office to process it.  Until notification you must provide your child with a lunch or lunch money.

Only complete one application per family.  The information you give will be used to determine or prove your child's eligibility for free or reduced-priced meals.  This information may also be used for other state or federally funded school benefits.

Factors considered in the application process are household size and total household income.  Household size is considered all persons, related or unrelated: including parents, children, grandparents who live in your home and share living expenses.  The total household income is the income each household member received last month before taxes- this includes wages, social security, pension, unemployment, welfare, child support, alimony and any other cash income.

Foster children are categorically eligible for free meal benefits.  An application is not required yet there does need to be documentation of status by a state or local entity familiar with the child's status (court papers).  Foster children may be included in the household application as part of the household size.

*Please note that if your family is approved for free or reduced meals they are entitled to one breakfast and one lunch per school day at their approved level.  Any other food purchases will be charged at the Ala Carte rates.
