Welcome to Nutrition Services!
September 22, 2016
I would like to say hello to all families and students. We have many families who have applied for our Free and Reduced Breakfast and Lunch Program available through our participation in the National School Lunch Program. We encourage all families to apply that may be eligible. Our Central Kitchen is open from 6am till 4:30 pm to assist all applicants. This is the fourth year of new menu implementation standards nationwide which has brought whole grains to all meals, lower sodium levels in all food, and larger portions of fruits and vegetables. We continue to serve fresh fruits and vegetables on our salad bars that are organic whenever possible. All of our fruit such as apples, strawberries, kiwi fruit, plums, peaches, grapes, oranges and nectarines come from local farmers co-op. Purchasing from local farmers rather than sources that are not local is a sustainable practice which supports local growers and helps our planet by decreasing our carbon footprint.
We encourage all families to participate in our meal program. All meals are balanced and our menu includes many different choices for your child to enjoy. We also will make sure to offer a vegetarian option if you desire. Please communicate your child's needs to your students kitchen manager and we will try our best to accommodate.
Please note that we are no longer able to serve lunches from our daily menu to students that have a balance in excess of $5. Due to state regulations which prohibit the "gifting of public funds". Every effort will be made to make payment arrangements or processing for the "free and reduced" meal program. Please see our staff at our Central Kitchen location at 699 N. Mountain ave in order to turn in your application or to seek assistance.
