	Lake Central Food Service *Welcome to Nutrition Services !* The Food Service staff would like to welcome you to another exciting school year! Our department is made up of a great team of 90 employees. All of which have attended the ServSafe classes. Our department offers years of experience and a wealth of knowledge when it comes to Food Services. This summer some of the Food Service staff got together to work on menu’s. We have taken in several suggestions from students, staff and parents. It is our intention to serve you the best we can! Nutrition is just as important to us as it is you. Our services include serving Breakfast, Lunch, Ala Carte sales and Catering. We hope you will join us in creating a healthy environment that is based not only USDA Dietary Guidelines requirements but exceeds them. We support learning by promoting healthy habits for lifelong nutrition and fitness practices. We also support the Michelle Obama LETS MOVE campaign to get Americans to raise a healthier generation. SO LET’S GET MOVING……………… THIS YEAR- We will be offering 4 entrée’s each day 3 of which are considered the healthier choice. This is based on the calories of fat they contain. These items are indicated with a feather next to them on the menu. We will also be adding several fresh home-made items to our menus. These are indicated with a symbol next to them. We will be working with our Chef from Gordon Food Service on recipes. Fresh meats and herbs will be the main ingredients used. When it comes to filling the rest of your child’s plate we are adding more whole grain items on the menu and allowing students to take more fruits and vegetables. Menus will be posted approximately one week before the start of each month. We hope you will encourage your child to FILL THEIR PLATE WITH ALL THESE FOOD GROUPS!
