Good nutrition and learning go hand in hand.

The Nutrition Services department is made up of a team of food and nutrition professionals that are dedicated to students' health, well being and their ability to learn. We support learning by promoting healthy habits for lifelong nutrition and fitness practices.

Meals, foods and beverages sold or served at schools meet state and federal requirements which are based on the USDA Dietary Guidelines. We provide students with access to a variety of affordable and appealing foods that meet the health and nutrition needs of students.

Dear SUSD Families,

The Nutrition Services Department is pleased to announce we are able to continue to provide free meals to students under the USDA Covid-19 waiver. All students enrolled in the 2021-2022 school year will be eligible to receive a free breakfast and lunch daily.

In past years, we collected free and reduced meal applications. Meal applications are not being accepted this school year. We strongly encourage families to complete an alternate income form (School Benefit Form) for the 2021-2022 school year. The information collected on the School Benefit forms can contribute directly to the amount of LCFF funding (Local Control Funding Formula, our largest source of district revenue) that we receive as a district. Completing the School Benefit form can aide in determining eligibility of other programs, such as discounted registration fees for recreational activities, discounts in cable and internet services, and Pandemic EBT benefits.

The information on this form will remain confidential and is used for funding purposes only. One form per household listing all students enrolled in SUSD is sufficient. The link to fill out the School Benefit Income Form online is:

Please feel free to contact our Nutrition Services office with any questions or concerns.
