All students will receive breakfast and lunch at no cost in school cafeterias (in school learners) and for curbside pick-up meals (virtual learners)!

Thanks to USDA funding, these meals will be available through the end of the of the 2020-2021 School Year.  Each student can receive one free breakfast and one free lunch daily.  This applies to qualified meals (breakfast and lunch), not snacks and beverages.  Money already spent on qualified meals from September 1, 2020 will be credited to student cafeteria accounts!  

Important: You MUST still complete a free and reduced meal application to qualify for textbook assistance for this school year! 

In School Learning Students
All students participating in the in-school learning model can pick up a free meal during breakfast and lunch daily Monday-Friday (M-F) when at their school.

Virtual Learning Students
All students in the virtual learning model will be able to pick up a weeks’ worth of free breakfasts and lunches every Monday between the hours of 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the following location(s):

Johnston Elementary School, 8220 5th Street, (Door D, off of 5th Street), Highland, IN

Please pick up meals for all children in the household at one location.

If you will be picking up meals for a child with food allergies, please contact the Child Nutrition Director, Lisa Hayes, at 219-924-7400 for detailed information.

Please remember that if your child receives their free meal(s) when they are in-school, parents are not allowed to also pick up a meal for that same child at the mobile pickup location.

These are "Take and Bake" Meals. Menus along with preparation instructions will be included in the meal kits and they will be also posted on this webpage.

Please note: We will not accept cash payments at our meal distributions.

1.       Any changes to the program will be posted HERE! Please check regularly.

2.       Staff will distribute meals to vehicles while occupants REMAIN in their vehicles for safety.

3.       Proof of identity will be required of parents or guardian if asked.

4.       Students do not have to be present to receive meals. Students may pick up their own meals.

5.       This meal service is only for Highland students.

6.       Please pick up meals at ONLY one location. Duplicate Meals are not allowed and will be charged to your students account at FULL price, regardless of eligibility status.
