The Texas Public School Nutrition Policy and the Local Student Nutrition and Wellness Policy limit access to Foods of Minimal Nutritional Value to students. Three days per school year are exempt from these restrictions. Per MISD policy the exempted days are as follows:
Exemption: Three days will be exempt from the inaccessibility of the Foods of Minimal Nutritional Value These items may not be made available during meal times in the areas where school meals are being served and/or consumed. The designated days will be:
For Grades Pre-K – 5th Grade: For Grades 6th – 12th Grades: * The last day before Christmas Holidays * The last day before Christmas Holidays * The last day of school before Easter * Valentines Day or the Friday before if it Holidays falls on a weekend *The last day of school * The last day of school
