Welcome to Nutrition Services!

Families and the Community of Hesperia, good nutrition and learning go hand in hand!

The Nutrition Services department is made up of a team of Food and Nutrition professionals dedicated to student’s health, wellbeing and their ability to learn. We support learning and student academic achievement by promoting a healthier school environment through long term healthy eating habits, nutrition education and physically activity.  We provide students with access to a variety of affordable and appealing foods that meet the health and nutrition wellness needs of students.

School meals are served to students following the nutrition guidelines under the Healthy Hunger Free Kids Act of 2010 for the National School Lunch Program and the National School Breakfast Programs. After School meals are served under the Child and Adult Care Feeding Program. Summer Meals are served under Seamless Summer Feeding Option. Nutrition guidelines ensure schools provide healthy food options that are 100 % whole-grain rich, ensures milk options are low fat and fat free; 100% fruit and/or vegetable juices; and provides a variety of fresh, seasonal fruits and vegetable options daily.  With specific goals to reduce calories, fat and sodium by grade group.

Foods and beverages sold or served at schools meet State and Federal requirements which are based on the USDA Dietary Guidelines.

Nutrition Services provides more than 12,000 lunch meals and 6,000 breakfast meals each day to students and adults. We do this with over 180 dedicated staff members.
