Learning does not end when school lets out. Neither does the need for good nutrition. Good nutrition is essential for learning in school. Continuing healthy eating habits is also important during the long hot summer months. Make seasonal fruits and vegetables a high priority for your snacks, meals and anytime. Make good nutrition a priority all summer long, and students will return to school in the Fall healthy, sharp and ready to learn.
Meals, foods and beverages sold or served at schools meet states and federal requirements which are based on the USDA Dietary Guidelines. We provide students with access to a variety of affordable and appealing foods that meet the health and nutrition needs of students. In the 2010-2011 school year, Galena Park ISD Student Nutrition Services served students 1,483,462 reimbursable Breakfasts and 2,830,472 reimbursable Lunches.
