Welcome to the Department of Child Nutrition!

At Clinton Public School District, good nutrition and learning go hand in hand!

It's a proven fact that students who practice healthy habits can achieve their full academic potential, full physical and mental growth, and lifelong health and well being.

Mississippi has seen a 13% reduction in childhood obesity, and a big part of our continued success is keeping healthy foods and activity as part of our school day.

About Us

Clinton Public School District has eight schools with approximately 4,974 students enrolled. The Department of Child Nutrition employees a team of 37 food and nutrition professionals that are dedicated to students' health, well being and their ability to learn. We have six operating school cafeterias and we take pride in serving students approximately 110,330 breakfast meals and 562,776 lunch meals each school year. All of our foodservice managers are ServSafe Certified. We support learning by promoting good nutrition and by providing students access to a variety of affordable and appealing foods that meet their nutritional needs.

Clinton Public School District's Department of Child Nutrition is administered through the United States Department of Agriculture, the Mississippi State Department of Education, and the local School Board. It is our goal to serve well balanced, nutritious and safe meals to all students, faculty, and staff members of the school district. This department is a self-supporting and nonprofit program that receives federal, state and local funding. Local funds are generated from the meal payments.
