Meals, foods and beverages sold or served at schools meet state and federal requirements based on the USDA Dietary Guidelines. All meals, foods and beverages are prepared and served by qualified child nutrition professionals. We provide students with access to a variety of affordable and appealing foods that meet the health and nutrition needs of students.

Classroom Breakfast

An extension of the CEP program is the district’s “Breakfast after the Bell” initiative which provides early morning nutrition after school has started, ensuring that the children begin their studies on a full stomach. Prior to Breakfast After the Bell, morning meals were typically provided around 7:45 AM, precluding many children who could not arrive at that early hour.

Early results are showing that the children who are receiving breakfast in the classroom are more attentive, and less inclined to focus on lunch hour, when they might have previously received their first meal of the day. Based upon demographics, our district’s entire student population qualifies for this new initiative. Promotional Flyer
