The Child Nutrition Department is made up of a team of food and nutrition professionals that are dedicated to students' health, well being and their ability to learn. We support learning by promoting healthy habits for lifelong nutrition and fitness practices!!

Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples today named the city of Navasota and Mayor Bert Miller winners of the 2011 Mayors Challenge award for promoting child nutrition. “Children who eat nutritious meals often perform better academically and are healthier overall...”.

Mayor Miller credited support from local media, the school district and others in winning the Mayors Challenge. “This award shows that we care about kids and want them to have access to good meals, even when they’re not in school”.

S.L.A.M. (Students Learning About Meals) went on a field trip on October 11, 2012 to Humble, Texas to sample commodity items at the Gulf Coast COOP Food Show!
