The nationwide waiver that allows schools to feed all students for free has been extended throughout the 2021-22 school year. Therefore, ALL students will be offered a FREE breakfast and a FREE lunch.
However, Parents and/or Guardians are strongly encouraged to complete the Application for Free and Reduced Price Meals. Many sources of District funding and many benefits to students (ex: waived ACT fees, discounted Adventure Club fees, the Backsnack Program, P-EBT, internet bill discounts, etc.) are based on students qualifying for free or reduced price meals. All Parents are Strongly Encouraged to Apply Online for Free and Reduced Price Meals!
Many families have been affected by the pandemic. If your child received free or reduced price meals last year, if your household income has gone down, or if the number of people living in your household has gone up, please apply online today!
A new application must be submitted each year, after July 1st.
Only complete one application per family.
Information to gather prior to completing the application includes the first and last name of each person living in the home, the student ID numbers of each student, the date of birth of each student, the name of the school each student attends, and the gross income for each person living in the home.
Additional information to gather includes the case number on the approval letter for families receiving food stamps (not the number on the EBT card). Your case worker can also give you this number.
Foster children are categorically eligible for free meal benefits. When completing the application, be sure to indicate the student's status as a Foster Child. Foster children may be included in the household application as part of the household size.
The information you give will be used to determine if your child is eligible for free or reduced-priced meals. This information may also be used for other state or federally funded school benefits.
Proof of income may be required to verify that information on the application is accurate. Each year, 3% of all applications approved for free or reduced price meals are randomly chosen for verification. If your application is chosen, you will need to provide proof of income for everyone in the household, usually two consecutive check stubs. The income information provided will be used to determine free, reduced, or full pay status. If no proof of income is provided, the application will revert back to full pay status and parents will be responsible for paying for their student’s meals and meal charges.
Applications received in July and August are processed for the upcoming school year. Applications received before July 1st may qualify for free or reduced price meals temporarily, during the first 30 days of the upcoming school year, however, families must re-apply after July 1st for the upcoming school year.
Parents/guardians are responsible for paying for all meals and meal charges made prior to the application being approved, including meals purchased while information is obtained for an incomplete application.
Further instructions can be found in the online application and on the paper application.
