Welcome to Child Nutrition Services!

Good nutrition and learning go hand in hand.

The Nutrition Services department is made up of a team of food and nutrition professionals that are dedicated to students' health, well being and their ability to learn. We support learning by promoting healthy habits for lifelong nutrition and fitness practices.

Meals, foods and beverages sold or served at schools meet state and federal requirements which are based on the USDA Dietary Guidelines.

Child Nutrition Services has made many changes over the past years to meet these continuously changing guidelines. We no longer provide foods with artificial trans fat and quite a few years ago removed many items that do not meet the recommendations such as soda, candy and fried chips. We offer salad bars in all of the elementary schools. We have expanded our variety of whole grain products and have replaced items that contain high fructose corn syrup with healthier alternatives. These are just some of the many changes we have recently made..more are to come! We strive to provide the best meals for our students as we know that learning and nutrition go hand in hand.

Starting the week of 11/7/2011 Child Nutrition Services will be purchasing a portion of the produce served in schools from Old Grove Orange, Inc. They are a group of small growers dedicated to making the last remaining local farms sustainable thru partnerships with local school Districts. The majority of the produce will come from San Diego, Riverside and Los Angeles Counties. Child Nutriton Services hopes your children will enjoy these new Fruits and Vegeables!
